Harvest Frost G1 System Features

in the Wairarapa.
- Online Data.
Each system has its own configurable web page. Weather trends are visible
at a glance as well as complete weather history. All weather data is archived
and can be downloaded from your site in csv or plain text format at any time.
During a frost event you will be able to see your data coming in every
minute. Under non-alarm conditions data is reported back every hour with 10
minute logs.
- Alarms. The system sends up to four messages
(text messages, voice messages or emails) when the temperature
drops to the alarm level set by the customer. Other alarms can
also be configured: a second temperature alarm, battery voltage
alarms, high wind, high temperature etc.
- Investors. The normal daily weather data
is a great way for shareholders to see what's happening at
their investment site.
- Growing Statistics.
The system calculates Growing Degree Days
for your site during growing months, and
Richardson Chill Units during the winter months.
For an example, go to McGireny's
temperature statistics.
- Calculated Weather Variables.
Calculated values such as Dew Point, Wet Bulb, Evapostranpiration and
Wind Chill are now available. Bacchus Botrytis risk calculations are also
available for no extra charge with the addition of a leaf wetness sensor.
- Versatile.
The solar-powered unit can be placed anywhere on your site. It uses the
Vodafone GSM/3G network in New Zealand and any GSM/3G network in other
countries. Installation is quick and easy with no technical expereience needed.
- Wireless Temperature Sensors
No wires to install or get damaged! Standard wireless sensors have a
range of up to 250 metres and a battery life of 10 years. No wiring
means the sensors can be installed in a few minutes and placed at the
coldest and/or warmest locations so you can get a good idea of the temperature
rofile during a frost event. Under frost conditions new temperature readings
are reported every minute. For longer range sensors please check out the
G2 system.
- Rain and Wind Sensors.
The standard combination for all G1 Frost systems are the Pronamic 1mm
rain gauge and NIST approved Davis anemometer. A high accuaracy Davis 0.2mm
rain gauge is available. Updated rainfall totals are available at a glance.
Wind data is always useful with both average and gust calculations.
- Humidity Sensor.
With the addition of a humidity sensor both dew point and wet bulb
calculations can be done.
- Soil Moisture Probes.
Decagon Echo and Streat Aqualfex soil moisture probes can be added to the
system. Every unit can handle multiple probes.
- Wind Machine Monitoring.
Many Vineyards and Orchards that have Harvest systems are now monitoring
their wind machines. The Harvest Frost G1 system can monitor the engine run
time and battery voltage of the wind machine. If needed the system can monitor
multiple wind machines. More advanced monitoring is possible with the
G2 system.
- Other Sensors.
Any system can be equipped with a range of other sensors including solar
radiation, leaf wetness, soil temperature and barometric pressure.
We can also monitor a range of other sensors including flow meters, well depth
sensors, and a range of other analogue and digital input sensors.
- Quick View.
A special Quick View page is available for on-the-spot management during
the operation of wind machines, sprinklers or
even in the cockpit of a helicopter. This web page shows the
latest temperatures and the temperature trend by means of
arrows. See the
quickview page for the McGireny Vineyard.
- WAP Cellphone Page.
For in-field use you can also view the live temperature data on any cellphone using WAP
(try http://harvest.com/mcgovern).
- Optional Password.
Your web data can be password protected if that's what you need, or you can
share the information with your neighbours and in fact the whole world.
- Large Sites.
The G1 Systems with wireless temperature sensors have an approximate coverage of
10 acres. Larger sites may require a G2 System.
